# VerifiedNode

> Public business profiles with dated licensing, bond and insurance evidence. Independent of issuing authorities. Compare business identity, source, status and observation dates before using a credential claim.

## Start here

- [Developer documentation](https://www.verifiednode.com/developers): public JSON API, MCP and CLI usage.
- [OpenAPI contract](https://www.verifiednode.com/openapi.json): REST parameters and response schemas, generated from the live interface validators.
- [Source coverage and freshness](https://www.verifiednode.com/sources): authorities, scope, omissions and completed source observations.
- [Machine-readable source ledger](https://www.verifiednode.com/api/public/sources): dataset source keys, stable issuing-board authority IDs and refresh health (schema v1.2).
- [Methodology](https://www.verifiednode.com/methodology): what the evidence and profile signals mean.
- [Expanded discovery index](https://www.verifiednode.com/llms-full.txt): bounded examples and published resources, cached for up to one hour; not a complete database export.

## Agent interfaces

- MCP: https://www.verifiednode.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP).
- Tools: list_sources, get_source_status, search_businesses, get_business.
- JSON search: https://www.verifiednode.com/api/public/businesses?query=Hickman%20Construction&state=california
- JSON profile: /api/public/businesses?state={state}&city={city}&slug={slug} using the location and slug returned by search.
- Profile evidence: /audit/{state}/{city}/{slug}/llms.txt.
- Dependency-free Node.js CLI: https://www.verifiednode.com/verifiednode.mjs.

Public lookups require no API key. Search accepts a business name with optional state and city, and a limit of 1–20. Inspect the truncated flag; a bounded search is not an exhaustive registry query. Refine by location and compare license identifiers and business identity before selecting a result. Respect rate limits and Retry-After responses. Private uploads and account information are not exposed.

## Evidence and freshness

A public registry record, a claimed profile and paid document review are separate facts. Payment and ownership do not establish a license or insurance status. A missing record is not evidence that a business is unlicensed or uninsured.

Read each credential's status, expiry, authority and freshness metadata. Profile API v1.2 also returns a recordIdentity object: compare authorityId, jurisdiction, kind and exact number together. authorityId is the stable issuing-board namespace; sourceKey identifies the supplying dataset. Classifications are dated evidence that can change, not part of the credential identity. Business names and URL slugs are display and navigation fields, not proof that two records represent the same entity. A source snapshot observation does not imply that every profile has been updated from it. Metadata checks and profile-update timestamps do not freshen credential evidence. Unknown, stale and not_attested states must remain visible in downstream answers. Reading this index does not verify a business in real time.

Source scope matters: an individual license, a business license, a personnel association, an exemption and a policy record are different. Absence from a later source file is a membership change, not proof of a license lapse. For current eligibility, follow the issuing authority's lookup link.

When citing a result, include its profile URL, authority, relevant status and dated observation. Preserve uncertainty. Profile scores are internal recorded-signal measures, not measured search rankings, workmanship ratings or predictions of AI recommendations.

## Human and owner actions

- [Find a business](https://www.verifiednode.com/search).
- [Claim or correct a profile](https://www.verifiednode.com/claim): the owner completes identity checks.
- [Activity reports](https://www.verifiednode.com/profile-reports).
- [Document-review pricing](https://www.verifiednode.com/pricing).
- [Contact](https://www.verifiednode.com/contact).

Lookup tools do not claim profiles, purchase reviews or publish documents. Human approval and the applicable identity checks remain part of those actions. MCP and llms.txt availability do not guarantee indexing, citation or recommendation by an AI or search provider.
